Toonalook Woodlands

18 August 2016

Work has commenced on the rehabilitation of a degraded section of foreshore at Point Fullarton near Paynesville. These works are the first stage in the creation of ‘Toonalook Woodlands’, an interpretive recreation trail highlighting the Indigenous links with native vegetation communities. These works are the first stage of the project and have seen Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) crews plant several thousand trees, shrubs and grasses and other native flowering plants. The next stage of the project will see the formalisation of walking tracks and interpretive signage. This project has been supported by DELWP, Greening Australia, East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority and GLaWAC.
